ASVAB
The
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a timed,
multi-aptitude test that helps students identify their abilities via
eight modules: Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics
Knowledge, Arithmetic Reasoning, General Science, Auto and Shop
Information, Mechanical Comprehension, and Electronics Information.
ASVAB scores allow students to compare their test performance to a
national sample of students at their grade level.
If
you are applying to any of our Officer Programs you only need to take
this test if you scored below a 1000 on the SAT or a 22 composite on
the ACT. To meet the mental qualification for Marine Officer Programs
you need a 74 on the AFQT portion of your ASVAB test results. There is
no expiration date on the ACT, SAT or ASVAB for Marine Officer
application purposes.
If you need to take
the ASVAB we recommend that you buy a study book from a bookstore and
go through a practice test. Ask the bookstore salesperson to recommend
a study book as there are many out there and most are pretty good.
Using the study guide you will be able to pinpoint areas of weakness.
Below are some downloads that you can use to prepare for the ASVAB.
